In mid of August Scutum culminates at about 21:00 LT (9 pm). The galactic equator is crossing our field of view and bright star clouds can be seen there. The Scutum Star Cloud is already visible by naked eye and with a declination of -5 degrees even very good from central europe. The number of galactic deep sky objects is incredible in this region so close to the galactic center. In the lower right is already a part of the central region of our galaxy, the so called galactic bulge (see also the wide angle view).
