The picture of the eclipsed sun was taken at the Red Hill Cabin on Mauna Loa,
Hawaii (the big island). The altitude is about 10.000 feet above the sea level.
The observing site was just above the clouds as you can see on the image.
In the distance the bright sky shows the zone outside of totality.
The total phase of this eclipse lasted about seven minutes and so
it was one of the longest eclipses in history. For comparison: the eclipse
of August 11th 1999 has a duration of just about two minutes.
