The brightness in the zenith was about 19.69 mag per arcsecond2 at 21:47 CET, 11.02.2021. This is 8.4 times more bright than the natural clear and moonless sky due to light pollution. The following curves compare this value with parallel measurements from the urban Observatory of Tübingen and remote Schachen at the Swabian Jura. Fog build up in Tübingen from 23 CET onwards, at Schachen much later at about 2:15 CET (see the time lapse of this night from Schachen).

Due to fresh snow the sky brightness is greatly increased compared to days without snow. The snow with its high albedo scatters much more artificial light up to the sky than the natural dark soil or road pavement. This leads to a much greater impact of light pollution.
