The cloudy sky above southern Germany turned extremely red in the afternoon, hours before dusk.
Shown is a comparison between 12 noon and 3 pm of our automated
AllSkyView camera station.
It also darkened, the right image is with tenfold sensitivity, but same exposure and aperture.
The color balance of both images is the same.
Wind from the southwest brought fine dust from the Saharan desert turning the sky red. The time lapse shows this quite well and in addition a lot of dust falling on the acrylic half dome. |
