A waning moon shines on the cloud top at the Silvretta Alps of Montafon, Austria. Below is bright Venus just before the start of morning dawn.
Above the glacier at direction south is bright and reddish planet Mars. The Saarbruecker Hut stands high at 2538 m above see level. A few brightness values were measured in the evening without moon, but dense rain clouds. They are shown in comparison to the values from the Swabian Jura. Clouds in remote regions darken the sky significantly whereas clouds in light polluted regions have the opposite effect. They scatter the artificial light back to the ground and therefore brighten the sky even more. | ||||||||||||||||
